Notice of Public Information Centre: Highway 401 and Lauzon Parkway Interchange Study

THE STUDY 

The Ontario Ministry of Transportation (MTO) has retained Stantec Consulting Ltd. to complete the Preliminary Design and Class Environmental Assessment (Class EA) Study for a new interchange at the future Lauzon Parkway connection to Highway 401. This interchange study builds upon the previously approved Municipal Class EA Study for the Lauzon Parkway, which included a proposed interchange at Highway 401 to address the current and future transportation needs in the study area. The study area is located in the City of Windsor and the Town of Tecumseh, in Essex County (see map).

PUBLIC INFORMATION CENTRE

A Public Information Centre (PIC) is being held to present the existing conditions, preliminary alternatives, evaluation of alternatives, and the Preferred Alternative. The PIC will be a drop-in format, with members of the Project Team available to discuss the project and respond to any questions you may have.

Time: 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Comments are requested by May 16, 2025. Presentation materials will also be available on the project website following the PIC at: www.hwy401lauzon.ca.

THE PROCESS

This study is following the approved planning process for a Group ‘B’ project in accordance with the Class Environmental Assessment (Class EA) for Provincial Transportation Facilities and Municipal Expressways (2024). Upon completion of Preliminary Design, a Transportation Environmental Study Report (TESR) will be prepared to document the EA process, consultation activities, the evaluation of alternatives, and the recommended plan. The TESR will be available for a 30-day comment period at that time. Construction timing is subject to funding and approvals.
