Statement of Remuneration and Expenses Paid in 2024: Council received the report titled Statement of Remuneration and Expenses Paid in 2024. In accordance with Section 284 of the Municipal Act, 2001, municipalities are required to provide an annual, itemized statement detailing the remuneration and expenses paid to members of Council, municipal officers, and individuals appointed to local boards. This statement must be presented to Council by March 31 each year and must specify the by-laws authorizing these payments. To view the statements, click here.

Appointments to the Lakeshore-Tecumseh Inter-Municipal Committee: The Lakeshore-Tecumseh Inter-Municipal Committee, consisting of two Council members from each municipality, addresses matters of mutual interest. Councillor Jobin and Councillor Houston were appointed Chair and Vice-Chair, respectively, in 2023. As the Committee plans to reconvene this spring in Tecumseh, it was noted that the appointments for Tecumseh’s representatives had expired. Given the remaining 18 months in the current Council term, it is recommended that Councillors Jobin and Houston be reappointed to serve until November 14, 2026, ensuring continuity in representing the Town’s interests.Tecumseh Ribfest – Municipal Significance: Council received the report that overviewed the Tecumseh Ribfest, scheduled for July 25-27, 2025, at the Tecumseh Arena. Council designated the event as a 'municipally significant' event to facilitate obtaining a Special Occasion Permit (SOP) from the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO). The event, organized by the Owner and Operator of Tecumseh Ribfest, will feature rib vendors, a kids' zone, and musical entertainment, and is expected to attract approximately 2,000 attendees. The designation is necessary for the event to apply for a Public Event SOP, which allows the sale and consumption of alcohol. The report outlines the requirements for SOP applications, including notifying local authorities and ensuring compliance with municipal policies. The event aims to generate tourism and economic benefits for the community.

Tecumseh Response to U.S. Tariffs on Canadian Exports: Council received a report addressing the town's response to U.S. tariffs on Canadian exports, recommending the endorsement of three options: amending the Town’s Purchasing By-law to favor local/Canadian goods, promoting "Buy Canadian" practices on the Town’s website, and continuing collaboration with various associations to oppose the tariffs and support affected businesses. The report highlights the economic hardship caused by the tariffs and suggests measures to mitigate their impact, including supporting resolutions and lobbying efforts. It also notes the financial implications, such as potential cost inflation and increased procurement costs, and aligns the recommendations with the Town’s strategic priority of sustainable growth.

2024 Town of Tecumseh CLI-ECA Annual Performance Reports Municipal Sewage Collection & Stormwater Management Systems: Council received the report, prepared in compliance with the Ministry of Environment, Conservation, and Parks (MECP) regulations. The reports provide an overview of system performance, including monitoring data, maintenance activities, complaints received, system alterations, and corrective actions taken. In 2024, the Town recorded 40 service requests for the sewage collection system and 68 for the stormwater management system, all of which were addressed. Key infrastructure updates included sewer extensions on Del Duca Drive and CR46/Webster/Laval, as well as storm sewer replacements on Del Duca Drive and Webster Drive. The Ontario Clean Water Agency (OCWA) assisted with the sewage system report, while the stormwater system report was completed by Town staff. Council adopted the reports and they are available on the website here.

Notice of Motion – Housing Accelerator Fund: The Deputy Mayor brought forward a notice of motion for Council’s consideration on April 8, 2025 stating opposition for Housing Accelerator Fund Initiative #1. Specifically, the motion rejects provisions to allow four units as of right in established low-density neighborhoods, based on recent public opposition.
