Celebrate Black History Month in Tecumseh
The Town of Tecumseh is proud to commemorate Black History Month by raising the Black History Month flag at Town Hall for the month of February.
Each February, Canadians come together to celebrate the legacy, achievements, and contributions of Black people in Canada. This year’s theme, “Black Excellence: A Heritage to Celebrate; a Future to Build,” highlights the rich past and present accomplishments of Black Canadians while inspiring new opportunities to shape the future.
This theme also aligns with the 10th year of the International Decade for People of African Descent, recognizing the importance of promoting and protecting the human rights of people of African descent as a distinct and vital part of our society.
The Town of Tecumseh invites everyone to take time this month to learn more about Black Canadian communities and their significant role in shaping our nation. For a list of local events, please visit the Amherstburg Freedom Museum website: https://amherstburgfreedom.org/
