Town of Tecumseh and County of Essex to Host "Doors Open for Art" at Town Hall and Cada Library

Tecumseh, ON -  The Town of Tecumseh, in collaboration with Essex County Library, is pleased to announce “Open Doors for Art,” a special event designed to celebrate and reintroduce local art pieces to our community. Taking place on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, this joint open house will feature the Town’s extensive art collection and will be held at two locations: Tecumseh Town Hall and Cada Library.

Guests will have the opportunity to explore the Town’s art collection, enjoy light refreshments, participate in door prize giveaways, and take part in children’s art activities. Following the recent renovations at Cada Library, the whole collection is now ready for display. Some pieces will be exhibited at Cada Library, while others will find new homes in Town Hall.

“We’re excited to open our doors to the community and showcase this incredible art collection,” said Mayor Gary McNamara, Town of Tecumseh. “It’s a wonderful way to celebrate both Local Government Week and Ontario Public Library Week while highlighting the importance of art and culture in our town.”

“This is a great opportunity for Essex County Library to continue creating synergies with our municipal partners,” said Adam Craig, Chief Librarian. “Not only are we able to showcase our own collection of art but to celebrate our shared interests in community building around the arts.”

The event will also feature guest appearances by local art professionals Nancy Johns of Nancy Johns Gallery and Framing in Windsor and Alicia Ristic of Art Galia in Tecumseh, who were instrumental in the reframing and preservation of the artwork.

The event comes at a meaningful time, coinciding with both Local Government Week and Ontario Public Library Week, providing the perfect opportunity to engage residents and visitors alike in appreciating the beauty and diversity of local art.
