Pickleball Courts – Grant Submission: Council received the report to submit a grant application to the Ministry of Sport and Infrastructure Fund-Stream 1: Repair and Rehabilitation, to obtain funding support for sound absorbing panels and fencing for both the Zekelman Pickleball Complex and the Shawanoe Pickleball Courts with a total submission of $500,000. Dillon Consulting completed a Noise Assessment to measure and predict the noise impacts of pickleball at the Zekelman Pickleball Complex.  This grant, if successful, will assist in adding important noise mitigation materials.

Expanding Housing Choices and Improving Affordability Tecumseh Housing Accelerator Fund October 2024 Status Update: Council received an update on the implementation of the Town’s Housing Action Plan (HAP), specifically the nine (9) housing initiatives. Important updates on each initiative can be found at tecumseh.ca/haf.

County Wide Active Transportation System (CWATS) and Municipal Partnership Program (MPP) Town of Tecumseh 2025 Proposed Projects: The intent of the CWATS is to facilitate the creation of a new interconnected active transportation network across the County comprised of on-road bike lanes, paved shoulders, and signed routes along existing roads and multi-use pathways. For 2025, multiple projects were approved and submitted to the CWATS Implementation Committee. A list of these projects can be found here.

Zoning By-Law Amendment Petretta Residential Proposal Northerly Portion of Manning Road Secondary Plan Area -Results of Public Meeting and Final Recommendation: Council received the report outlining results of the Public Meeting from October 8, 2024, which answered questions put forward during the public meeting and in written submissions.   Council supported the recommendation to approve the application and adopt the associated Zoning By-law amendment.

OPP Detachment Board – Appointment of At-Large Community Representative for 2025: At the most recent Council meeting on October 8, Lakeshore Council appointed Ed Hooker as the Municipality of Lakeshore’s at-large community representative on the OPP Detachment Board North (Essex, Lakeshore, Tecumseh) for the 2025 calendar year. Earlier this year the Town of Tecumseh appointed Christopher Hales as the at-large community representative for 2024. The Town of Essex will appoint an at-large community representative to the Board in 2026.

Review of the Property Standards By-Law: Council received the report outlining proposed changes to the bylaw including: clearer definitions and a new section to address nuisance lighting. This by-law has also been identified to be included in the new Administrative Monetary Penalties (AMPs) program. All changes are outlined here. Council approved all amendments to the Property Standard By-Law.

Revisions to the Land Maintenance By-Law: Council received the report outlining proposed changes to this bylaw, including: updated language and adding reference to the Administrative Monetary Penalties (AMPs) program, along with clarifications on land maintenance topics. PWES-2024-51 Arbour Street to Southfield Drive Watermain Extension - Tender Award: The tender award for the Arbour Street to Southfield Drive Watermain Extension in the amount of $220,000 was awarded to D’Amore Construction. The project involves constructing a looped watermain connection between Arbour Street and Southfield Drive. It includes installing approximately 220 meters of new 200mm diameter PVC watermain, using both directional drilling and open-cut excavation methods.
