Boozhoo Biindige

On July 3, 2023, the Town of Tecumseh officially unveiled a new sculpture of Chief Tecumseh at Lakewood Park North Beach.

The sculpture was carved into the trunk of an old cottonwood tree. It was completed by local artist Heather Mallaby and sponsored by the Windsor-Essex Community Foundation as a community legacy project in celebration of their 40th anniversary.

The carving project took approximately one year to complete and was designed in consultation with  members of the Tecumtha Ogitchada Society, including co-founder Patricia Shawnoo, who are direct descendants of Chief Tecumseh.

A full oral history of Tecumseh will be coming soon!
