  • Council Connect - April 23, 2024

    New Development Charges By-Law from Watson & Associates:  Council received a report on the process for updating the Town’s Development Charges By-law as required by Provincial legislation every 5 years. The Development Charges By-law projects growth anticipated in the Town over the next 20 years and determines the cost of infrastructure required to support that growth. 

  • Council Connect - April 9, 2024

    Zoning By-law Amendment 259 Kensington Boulevard: Council held a public meeting to hear public comment for a Zoning By-law amendment application for 259 Kensington Boulevard. The zoning by-law amendment application was submitted for a parcel of land situated on the west side of Kensington Boulevard, approximately 122 metres (400 feet) south of its intersection with Burlington Street.

  • New Essex County OPP Detachment Board

    As of April 1, 2024, the Community Safety and Policing Act, 2019, comes into effect, meaning that police service boards under the former Police Services Act will be discontinued in favour of new detachment boards, for municipalities policed by the OPP. Locally, the police service boards of the Town of Essex, Town of Tecumseh, and Municipality of Lakeshore  will be dissolved  as of March 31, 2024 through a by-law and replaced by a single entity, Essex Detachment Board – North, starting April 1.

  • Council Connect - March 26, 2024

    Weston Park Storyboard: The Sandwich South Historical Society (SSHS) submitted a request to recognize the history of Weston Park through a storyboard, serving as a tribute to the Weston Family for their significant contributions in creating a social centre for the community at the park.

  • Public Meeting - Zoning By-law Amendment for 259 Kensington Boulevard

    TAKE NOTICE that the Council of the Corporation of the Town of Tecumseh will hold a public meeting Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. in the Town Municipal Office Council Chambers at 917 Lesperance Road to consider a proposed Zoning By-law amendment pursuant to the provisions of the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990. 

  • Tecumseh Council Connect - March 19, 2024

    Ontario Naloxone Program-Community Partnership: Council received a report recommending a partnership with the Ontario Naloxone Program (ONP) to deploy Naloxone kits on fire apparatus and implement a two (2)-year pilot program at various Town facilities. Naloxone is a safe and effective medication used to treat an opioid overdose, helping to combat the effects and lead to better patient outcomes.

  • Tecumseh Council Connect - February 27, 2024

    Sanitary Model Recalibration and Basement Flood Risk Mitigation Study:  Council received an administrative report regarding the study undertaken by Dillon Consulting Ltd (PWES-2018-08) to provide recommendations for mitigating basement flooding risk within the Town’s northern urbanized residential areas.

  • Tecumseh Council Connect - February 13, 2024

    OPP Detachment Board Regulation Description: The Ministry of the Solicitor General has collaborated with municipalities and First Nations to establish detachment board compositions for the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in preparation for the Community Safety and Policing Act (CSPA) taking effect on April 1, 2024.

  • Tecumseh Council Connect - January 23, 2024

    Essex Power Corp. Amended Shareholder Agreement: The Town of Tecumseh, along with three other municipalities (LaSalle, Amherstburg and Leamington), are the shareholders of Essex Power Corp. The Board of Essex Power Corp. through its management has asked its shareholders to consider certain amendments to its Shareholders Agreement, which has been in place since 2000. 

  • ​​Tecumseh Council Completes 2024 Budget Deliberations​

    Tecumseh, ON - Tecumseh Town Council completed the budget deliberations for 2024, with a consolidated (County, education and municipal) tax levy increase of approximately 4.25%. The increase in the tax levy approved by Council on January 16 – as part of the 2024 budget – translates into $155 annual increase for the average residential property assessed at $250,000 (based on MPAC’s 2016 current value assessment, which is the basis for the 2017-2024 tax years).
